Eficacia de la terapia cognitiva conductual para la ideación suicida en adultos mayores: Una revisión bibliográfica
Resumen
Introducción: El envejecimiento es un proceso progresivo e irreversible que implica diversos desafíos, lo cual incrementa la vulnerabilidad de los adultos mayores a padecer diferentes problemas de salud mental como la ideación suicida, que en muchos casos conduce a la mortalidad, por lo que es fundamental una intervención temprana. Objetivo: Analizar la efectividad de la TCC y sus técnicas en el tratamiento de la ideación suicida para adultos mayores. Metodología: Se llevó a cabo una revisión sistemática, empleando las bases de datos científicas ScienDirect, Scopus, PubMed y Google Académico, donde se identificaron 10 estudios idóneos para el análisis, publicados en inglés entre los años 2016-2025. Resultados: La Terapia Cognitivo Conductual (TCC) y Terapia de Resolución de Problemas (TSP) son tratamientos eficaces para la reducción de la ideación suicida en adultos mayores. Además, disminuir los síntomas de insomnio y desesperanza se asocia con menor ideación suicida, mientras que el neuroticismo, la desesperanza y la autoeficacia anticipan una trayectoria desfavorable al inicio del tratamiento. Discusión: Se analizó la eficacia de la TCC para la ideación suicida en adultos mayores, en comparación con otras modalidades terapéuticas. También, se identificaron las variables moduladoras y predictoras durante el tratamiento. Conclusión: La evidencia sobre la eficacia de la TCC para la ideación suicida en adultos mayores es limitada, aunque sugiere efectos favorables. La TSP ha demostrado resultados significativos en comparación con otras intervenciones. La reducción de la discapacidad funcional, la desesperanza y el síntoma depresivo de insomnio con dichas intervenciones se asocia con una disminución de la ideación suicida en esta población.
