Terapia Hormonal en la Menopausia: Efectos a corto y Largo Plazo en la Salud

Resumen


La mujer experimenta diferentes etapas a lo largo de su vida, una de ellas es la menopausia, marcada por la disminución de la función ovárica y los niveles hormonales. Durante décadas, la terapia hormonal de la menopausia (THM) se ha empleado con el fin de aliviar los síntomas asociados a esta transición y prevenir las complicaciones a largo plazo derivadas del déficit hormonal. El estudio pretende analizar los efectos a corto y largo plazo de la THM mediante una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica actualizada. Se realizaron búsquedas exhaustivas en bases de datos como Cochrane, PubMed y SCOPUS. Los resultados evaluando la THM en la reducción de los síntomas vasomotores a corto plazo y como método preventivo de la osteoporosis a largo plazo. Sin embargo, también se asocia con ciertos riesgos y efectos secundarios. La decisión de utilizar la THM debe basarse en una evaluación individualizada de los beneficios y riesgos para cada paciente.
